Class,
Take a look at the blog from New Zealand to view the photos of the awesome looking camp that class is on! Remember, this is the week-long camp these students were getting ready to go on and the teacher said she wouldn't be able to really blog with us until she returned. BUT you can post comments to her class! Post at least one comment to them about their camp. Comment on their activities, ask questions, find out what they are studying, learning, etc. Wouldn't it be great to go on a week-long trip as a class?!

I just posted a comment on SUNLINK blog. Their blog is pretty cool. On the first page I saw, it talked about something called BrainCast, and it is something that sends you an e-mail from yourself to remind you of something. It is pretty cool. I told them that I have never heard of BrainCast, and it sounds pretty cool. I told them that our class enjoys bloging, and I told them what we were blogging about, and I asked if they enjoy blogging.

My favorite was Wormbins. It was my favorite because it has class projects and you change the background.

The Wormbins blog is only new my class and I started work on it's development in February, and no our system in Australia is not actively encouraging blogging for the same reasons you are facing but there is going to be a shift even if it is slow.
The dept here in NSW is looking to give children some guidance in using the read/write web as they are using it at home with very few skills regarding their safety and appropriate use.
It is a challenge that can be meet if the students are given directions and good comments modelled and those that are not appropriate are moderated out.
I am seeing some very productive peer tutoring and positive reinforcement coming from students work being published on the blog for parents and other students to comment on.
Thanks for your positive feedback about our blog.
